Proxies provide a range of network advantages including extra security and bandwidth savings. They are widely used in corporate and school environments, but you can configure them at home if your connection speed slows down. Windows 10’s Settings app and Control Panel are where you can manage proxy settings. If you are using an internet proxy for school or work, you should make sure the Use automatic detection of settings is turned on and the Use setup script switch is turned on in the Automatic Proxy Setup section.
To change your settings manually, open the Internet Options window from the Control Panel or by searching for “Internet options” in the search bar. Open the LAN settings by clicking the Advanced tab. Enter your proxy provider data in the Address and Port fields. Then, select the box that says Use a proxy server on your LAN and close the Internet Options window.
Malware can alter your network proxy settings and prevent you from connecting online. If the error “Windows couldn’t automatically detect this network’s proxy settings” persists you should run a scan alicehopper.review/ with an anti-malware tool and check if it helps.
If the error persists, you can try resetting proxy settings via the Registry. Be careful, as modifying the Registry can cause irreparable system damage. We recommend making backups prior to proceeding with this method. To do this, press the Win + R keys simultaneously. Enter cmd, then press Enter. This will launch the classic Command Prompt.
